I visited the Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague, Netherlands to see in person Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring". It was indeed worth the trouble. After spending a few hours at this gem of a museum, my husband and I took a break at the museum cafe, enjoying a cup of tea and the Dutch apple pie. Behold, what is depicted in my painting was sitting in front of me. What an artful, tongue-in-cheek, composition! The famous painting was used obviously for the menu by the museum and how could I resist painting it!
The painting was juried into a prestigious Art League monthly show in 2023,
The painting size is 10" x 8". Signed on front; varnished. The painting is framed in a beautiful antique gold, wooden frame and ready to hang for your pleasure. The framed size is 13.5" x 11.5".
Oil on oil-primed Belgian linen on panel. The painting is mounted on panel with archival glue. In other words, I have used a top quality material, which guarantees a long-term conservation of the painting.
