The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct bridge built in the first century AD to carry water over 50 km (31 mi) to the Roman colony of  Nîmes. It crosses the river Gardon near the town of Vers-Pont-du-Gard in southern France. The Pont du Gard is the tallest of all Roman aqueduct bridges as well as one of the best preserved. It was added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites in 1985 because of its exceptional preservation, historical importance, and architectural ingenuity, according to Wikipedia.

I visited this famous place in 2017 in late summer and was awed by it. The bridge itself was used until the early 20th century! There were many tourists, of course, but what impressed me was that many locals enjoyed water sports such as swimming, kayaking, etc. in the river. You can see a couple of kayakers in this painting. Can you imagine such an impressive backdrop for your summer activities? I dipped my feet in the cool refreshing river!

The painting size is 10" x 10". Signed on front; varnished. The painting is framed in an antique gold wooden frame and ready to hang for your pleasure. The framed size is 13.5" x 13.5".

Oil on oil-primed Belgian linen on baltic birch panel. The painting is mounted on panel with archival glue. In other words, I have used a top quality material, which guarantees a long-term conservation of the painting.
